Shuffleboard may be played as Singles Match or as Doubles. Playing a Singles match the player with the yellow discs shoots first from the right side of the "10-off" area.
He tries to score on the opposite side of the court. After his shot the player with the black discs shoots one disc from the left side of the "10-off" area. Alternatimg both players shoot their discs, until all 8 discs arer played. It is permitted to bump the opponent's discs into another scoring area or off the court. If a disc stops in the "neutral zone", it has to be removed immediately. After 8 discs are played, points are being summed-up. This is called a "Frame". A disc has to stop completely within the scoring zone to count, without touching any line (Exception: the dividing line of the "10-off"area on the opposite side of the court). Then the next 8 discs are played, using the same procedure as before, whereby the player with the black discs starts from the right side of the court. In a Doubles match one player from team A plays against his opponent from team B at the head of the court, the second player from team A play against his opponent from team B at the foot of the court. A match can be played either as a 75 points match or as a "Frame" match, where the number of frames has to be determined prior to the match. Additionally there a few special kinds of matches, most of them Fun-Shuffling like "Turkey Shoot". |
