WM Florida All German participants get more and more excited: 4 female and 6 male German Shufflers from the German Shuffleboard Association (GSA) represent Germany at the World Singles in Betmar, Florida. The German players...
...come from Langenselbold and Meerbusch with five players each. In the Women's tournament Irene Hoffmanns (M), Birgitt Hussmann (L), Kerstin Runge (M) und Lore Wuellner (L) strive for victory. Germany's #1 and #2 male players, Torben Hussmann (L) und Sebastian Runge (M) are accompanied by Dieter Hoffmanns (M), Dieter Hussmann (L), Marius Runge (M) and Sven Wuellner (L). The trophy to be won is a "Golden Cue", one for the Men and one for the Women each. The Germans should not be too optimistic to take one home though. The competitors, especially the North Americans, together with the Japanes Ladies, look too strong to let it off their hands. On top of that, many of those players know the courts and know how to play them. That is why GSA President and Co-organizator Dieter Hussmann would be more than content if a handful of Germans could reach the Top 16. More important for him is to see German players establish themselves on international level and foster international friendship amongst players around the world. This would be important to promote the next ISA Team World Cup in Germany 2010, where the Germans hope for many visitors from abroad. The German group that starts from Frankfurt and Duesseldorf airport respectively, tries to provide an evening fixtures and results service for the tournament, that lasts from Wednesday through Sunday (Oct 14th to Oct 18th). So stay tuned and look out for updates. |
